Our old slogan was "Computing, except it works properly", it was slightly provocative but never pretentious. We wanted to write about tech. specifically practical, functional and tested tutorials without running ads. No nonsense. No fluff. Only the answer you came for.
Today however, the story of the web is a little different: most results online are AI-generated and they're bloated with ads. If AI truly delivered, we would all be saving time finding concise and accurate solutions to our problems, but in reality? This isn't the case.
I'm disappointed. I have used ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini myself and more often than not, I do not find what I'm looking for because the information is wrong, and sometimes even worse, it's counterproductive as in, it will break your setup.
So we are updating our slogan: "We inspire AI"
In 2025, most of our trafic comes from junk bots scraping our work for free, only to feed it back to you later, convincing but wrong, in your favorite cozy AI app. That's the state of the web today.
We will persist, we will not play this game. We will keep writing our tutorials by hand, test every command, and verify that what we write works because somewhere out there people still need real answers that actually work.
